Leather Goods Restoration
Luxury leather goods are meant to last decades, not seasons. Our craftsmen restore what time and use have worn away.
Built to Last
A well-crafted leather handbag, a hand-stitched wallet, a full-grain leather belt — these are not disposable objects. They are made to be used, worn, and cherished over decades. Yet the wear and handling of daily life eventually take their toll: handles fray, stitching breaks, hardware tarnishes, leather dries and cracks.
At Atelier Patina, we believe the answer is not replacement — it is restoration. Our specialists in leather goods repair approach every piece the same way: with patience, the correct materials, and a commitment to the original craftsmanship the piece was made with.
From an everyday leather wallet that has seen fifteen years of pocket wear, to a vintage Hermès Kelly that requires structural reinforcement — we assess, plan, and restore with honesty and precision. No work begins until you have approved our full restoration plan and quote.

All Brands
We work with pieces from the full spectrum of leather craftsmanship — from Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci to Coach, Tumi, Bottega Veneta, Loewe, and beyond. We also restore pieces with no brand at all, made by independent makers or passed down through families.
We treat all leather equally. The measure of a restoration is not the label inside the piece — it is the quality of the leather, the integrity of the construction, and the care with which it was originally made. We bring the same attention to every piece that comes through our door, regardless of provenance.

The techniques we use are rooted in the same traditions as the pieces we restore — patient, precise, and permanent.
All seam and stitch repair is performed by hand using waxed linen thread and traditional saddle-stitching technique. Hand stitching is stronger than machine stitching and self-sealing: if one stitch breaks, the others hold. It is the only method we use for structural repairs.
When leather replacement is required — for a new handle, a patch, or a strap — we source hides that match the original in weight, texture, tannage, and finish. We mix and apply dye by hand to achieve an invisible match with the existing leather.
Brass, gold-plate, palladium, and oxidised hardware is cleaned, polished, and re-plated where necessary using the correct finishing process for each metal type. We replace hardware that cannot be restored using matched components.
For bags and cases showing internal structural fatigue — collapsed corners, delaminated walls, failed interfacing — we rebuild the internal structure using archival-quality materials, restoring the piece to its original form and rigidity.
